I haven’t forgotten about you.

Been a good 3-4 weeks since I’ve put a blog out there.  I had no computer for 2 weeks and finally after 2 trips to the Apple store the fix was a new plug in cord.   Going 2 weeks with out a computer was actually kind of nice at times.  I seemed to get more done in the day and I realized I spend way to much time checking emails and checking facebook.

I’ve also been spending a ton of time with my dad who is on his last legs up here at our local nursing home.  He needs to be fed by hand so I’m up their usually 2x a day feeding him and just to get 3 bites in him takes about an hour.  i usually am able to get 6-8 ounces of a homemade protein smoothie in him so he’s gettign some nutrtion in him.

It certaintly has been an eye opener and I have more empathy for people who are dependant on others for care and have admiration for those who take care of these people.  It’s a full time job taking care of nursing home people.  Below is a pic af me and my dad.  He said it was O.K to put the pic in the blog.  It has been hard to see someone you love deterioate and lose their memory and thir basic skills of living.

Dad and I

This is a really good picture of dad.  Usually he can’t hold his head up so this was a good day.

I feel blessed that I am here able to helpo out my folks in time of need.

/Here is what else is going on at our clinic.  Two weight loss seminars coming up , one is this Saturday 9am and next Wednesday the 3rd at 6:30 at  my clinic.  i have only roon for 7 so sign up now if you want to get healthy, lose weight, and jump start your spring.   Just email me if you want in.

I’ve been skiing quite a bit on my spare time and it has been the best spring skiing ever.  Big Rock Creek farm 3 miles norrth of St. Croix Falls has been a fantastic place to ski.  This is an incredible piece of land to ski.  Scott Hansen is doing a great job grooming, and it is open to the public.  We’ve got a week or so left of skiing and then once the snow melts you will be able to mountain bike, hike, run on the trails at Rock Creek farm.   If you want to get in shape you sure will at Rock Creek farm.  The outer loop has some tremendous climbs.

We are well into march madness and my brackets are toast.  Wisconsin laid an egg, and the Gophers said bye bye to Tubby.  I had a feeling thtat was going to happen so it’s no surprise.  The bottom line comes down to winning, you don’t win and you are out.  I feel their is much more to it than that, but that’s how it unfortunatly rolls in the competitive Big 10.  Look for Shaka Smart or Flip Saunders to be the new coach.   Tubby’s buyout cost 2.5 million, and I’m sure most of that is going to come form private donors and not state tex money.  Let’s see how it all plays out.

Have an incredible Easter everyone.  Enjoy your families, and we have our normal hours Good Friday, and Easter Monday.  Dr. E

Give your dad a hug for me. I grew up in St Croix Falls and have known him forever! He is a great person. I can always remember him on the sidelines of the football fields ready to help!

  • Singles are better than homeruns

Last night the boys and I watched the homerun derby and we loved every monster shot by some of the biggest  youngest strongest stars  of baseball like Prince Fielder  and Joe Mauer.  Prince won the competition going away and he hit one over 500 feet.  He swings so hard I feel he's going  to c
  • Are you stuck in the rubble of life?

I've been watching a little to much of  CNN's coverage of the Haiti Earthquake.  Incredible tragic even for those people but what amazes me is how these people can survive.  Last night they pulled a 70 year old grandma out who was in pretty good shape after being basically buried alive for 6 days
